Sub 4 hour marathon on first attempt
Peru is a fantastic coach and really invests time into his athletes, tailoring programmes to personal circumstances.
His strength and conditioning programme, alongside the running programme that he had devised, allowed me to see past previous injuries and build confidence in my body which enabled me to comfortably achieve a sub 4 hour marathon in my first attempt over that distance.

Completed Tokyo marathon

A Life-Changing Coach and an Even Better Human
Working with Coach Peru has genuinely changed my life. When I first came to him, I’d only recently started running and had already managed to give myself mild meniscus tears in both knees. I’d just seen a physio and was nervous, unsure if this whole running thing was even right for me. My only goal was to complete a marathon—just one—and to do it safely, in memory of my mum who passed away from ovarian cancer.
What happened over the months that followed went far beyond anything I thought was possible.
Not only did Coach Peru get me to that marathon finish line pain-free, but under his guidance, I didn’t have a single knee issue again. More than that, I’ve become a runner—not just someone who runs, but someone who loves running. It’s now a core part of who I am, and that transformation is entirely thanks to Coach Peru.
From day one, he brought not just motivation and structure, but heart and science. He knew when to push and when to pull back. He reminded me to train smart, to rest when needed, and to keep my “why” front of mind. When things were tough, he often told me to think of my mum. That grounded me. That kept me going. He got it.
He’s a scientist at heart, always measuring, adjusting, fine-tuning—and it shows in the results. Within just a few months of working together, I took 12 minutes off my half marathon time. That still feels insane to say. But somehow, Coach saw that potential before I ever did.
